About the opportunity
The Systems Administrator is a member of the information systems team and works to maintain and improve our IT systems, and provides Tier I support services for all internal users. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants increased responsibility and a chance to spread their wings.
This resource-constrained environment requires that you are driven, analytical and persistent. Your high level of initiative is balanced by your willingness to ask questions to confirm you’re heading in the right direction. You can demonstrate previous experience in:
- Building, configuring & maintaining Linux systems and virtualization platforms
- Configuring and maintaining file sharing systems, databases, networking services, backup tools, collaboration tools and help desk ticketing systems
- Managing HP and Intel server hardware and HP switches
Success in this role requires 4+ years’ experience in a comparable role (systems, network or server administrator) with strong troubleshooting skills in an open source environment. While there is some flexibility for the technical experience of the successful candidate, those with intermediate or advanced Linux command-line, strong scripting skills in Bash, and working knowledge of Python will be preferred.
As our Systems Administrator, it is important that you are exceedingly curious. You are never satisfied with simply fixing the problem but want to understand why it happened and how to prevent future occurrences. You are an expert Googler, seeking out the best tools and solutions for the problems we face. You are self-driven to take accountability for deliverables while supporting the IS manager in achieving our long-term IT strategy.
